President Obama’s Speechby YoubodeI was not really excited on September 8, 2009, I just came to school to get my education. I didn’t think President Obama was really going to give a back-to-school speech. What difference is it going to make anyway, I thought. I mean come on, he’s just one person. I really wouldn’t mind watching it; I just didn’t think it would change me, even if he’s great it wouldn’t matter. That was me before I heard his story. President Obama’s speech really got me thinking. It got me thinking about the choices I make in life. Not just in school, outside too. How I may be able to shape my life. I could shape it into an Island, or I could ship it somewhere dangerous and risky. Obama also said something that made me pay attention really closely. He said that “In order to succeed you must try no matter what, even in the hardest times. You must keep going, and don’t quit.” These are the important things that Obama said that really inspired me. For me, I have a quote of my own “Life is like climbing a mountain; it’s risky. Sometimes you may touch a slippery rock and fall off balance, but no matter how many slippery rocks you touch, you should never give up. Once you reach the top you, you are going to feel more than magnificent, you’re going to fell powerful and strong!” Obama’s speech really had a glint of a magic touch to it. Some of the words were like not his own. They just kept coming and coming like a spring of water. And that is how Obama speech inspired me.
